Aikido:
Aikido, a traditional Japanese martial art, was developed in the early part of this century by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969), now known as O-Sensei (venerable teacher). If you wish to learn more about the history of Aikido please click here.
Of Kokikai:
Kokikai
is an Aikido association founded by Maruyama-Shudo-sensei which
emphasizes modern fighting styles, techniques and KI development. It
is based on Maruyama-sensei's many years of teaching experience in
the United States and has a distinctly international character. 30
years ago Maruyama-sensei came to America on his own and opened his
first dojo in Philadelphia. Later he obtained the right of permanent
residence in the US and strove for the spread of Aikido throughout
the country.
Of the Fryeburg dojo:
Ray
Sensei is a practicing 5th Dan of Kokikai Ryu Aikido. Previously, the
dojo that he started in 1977 was located in upstate NY for 10 years.
After moving to Maine in 1996 he opened the Harrison dojo which has now moved to Fryeburg.
